What You Will Learn
This course covers the technical (code) aspect of web design, also reffered to as ‘front-end web development’. In a few short weeks, you’ll be creating web sites like a pro.
Beginner (Nov 20th, 27th, 2010, 9a.m. – 5p.m)
Get introduced to HTML the right way: What it is, it’s history, and which type of HTML to choose when starting a web page. You’ll get started right away with by learning the proper structure of an HTML page along with the fundamental HTML tags.
You’ll learn how to display headers, paragraphs, and images. Then, you’ll learn how to style that content to make it look great in a 1-column layout.
By the end of this course, you’ll know how to create a basic website and get it up and running on the web!
Intermediate (Dec 4th, 11th, 2010, 9a.m. – 5p.m)
As your knowledge of HTML expands, you’ll learn how to use CSS to harness a complete control over the layout of your page. You’ll learn about the fundamentals of CSS positioning, the CSS box model, and how to use CSS floats that will let your page flow.
More advanced CSS techniques will be taught, including how to style a navigation bar, replace header text with a logo, and strategically position backgrounds. Finally, you’ll order zpak. learn some tricks & tips to make sure your webpage looks great across a variety of modern web browsers!
By the end of this course, you’ll have a good understanding of how to layout and style HTML pages with CSS.
Advanced (Jan 8th, 15th, 2011, 9a.m. – 5p.m)
You’ll learn how to program using variables, conditionals, loops, and functions. Then, you’ll be introduced to the Document Object Model and how to use it to manipulate HTML.
Finally, a session on AJAX will teach you how to send data back and forth between the browser and the server using common data formats such as XML and JSON. All without ever reloading the page.
